Eighth and final day of my July 2024 trip to the Sierra Nevada. We would pass through Yosemite National Park on our way back to Berkeley from Bishop. We hiked Mount Watkins inside the park in the day, before watching a spectacular sunset scene and subsequent starry show at Glacier Point.
Seventh day of my July 2024 trip to the Sierra Nevada. Yesterday’s excursion to Cloudripper had taken a toll on my friend’s legs, so we took it easy today, made a second trip to the Mammoth area and checked out Devils Postpile National Monument.
Sixth day of my July 2024 trip to the Sierra Nevada. This was the most exciting day of the trip as my friend and I tackled Cloudripper via West Chute, a thrilling YDS class 3 adventure among the beguiling mountains of Sierra Nevada.
Fifth day of my July 2024 trip to the Sierra Nevada. Weather forecast indicated chances of rain in the afternoon, so my friend and I stayed close to the town of Mammoth Lakes, checking out views from the top of its ski resort together with a few alpine lakes nearby.
Fourth day of my July 2024 trip to the Sierra Nevada. Given the weather forecast, my friend and I hiked Mount Starr today. Accompanying our hike were the enchanting views of alpine lakes that dotted Little Lakes Valley and the magnificent granite peaks that surrounded them.
Second day of my July 2024 trip to the Sierra Nevada. My friend and I hiked Mount Tallac today. This was a prominent mountain near the shores of Lake Tahoe, serving as a warmup for the more exciting mountains in Sierra Nevada that we were to tackle later on.
