October 10, a beautiful autumn weekend when the mountain colors were the most dramatic of the year. My friend and I headed to Northern George Washington National Forest for a feast of this vibrant autumn scene.

After spending a week visiting Alaska, this post was about the flights back to Washington DC from Anchorage, with an overnight connection in Seattle.
Seventh and last day of our Alaska trip. I would be hiking Lazy Mountain Trail near Palmer, Alaska before hopping onto a 7pm flight to Seattle.
Sixth day of our Alaska trip. I would be hiking Mount Healy Overlook Trail in Denali National Park in the morning, after which we would be driving to the town of Palmer where we would spend our last night in Alaska.
Fifth day of our Alaska trip. We would devote the entire day to a bus tour of Denali National Park.
Fourth day of our Alaska trip. We would be driving from Seward to Healy, the gateway town to Denali National Park.
Third day of our Alaska trip. I would be hiking Harding Ice Field Trail, the most popular hiking trail near Seward, that ended with me stepping onto the expansive ice field.
Second day of our Alaska trip. We would be touring Kenai Fjords by boat for the day.
First day of our Alaska trip. We would be driving from Anchorage to Seward today. The 2.5-hour journey would pass through some beautiful landscapes, like Turnagain Arm and Chugach National Forest. In addition, we would take a detour to visit the town of Whittier, a town only accessible on land through a single-lane cold war tunnel.
